Why we started
Your Favourite Corner began in 2026 as part of Riwaj by Rajni, with a specific frustration: every piece of affordable jewellery we bought looked wonderful for a month and then embarrassing. The gold went pale. The chains left marks. Pieces that cost a few hundred rupees turned out to cost a few hundred rupees repeatedly.
When we looked into why, the answer was boring and entirely fixable. Almost all inexpensive jewellery is built on copper-based alloys, because they are cheap and easy to work with. Copper is also exactly what reacts with air and sweat to dull a finish and leave a green mark on skin. The problem is in the metal, not the plating on top of it.
So we only stock pieces built on stainless steel. There is no copper in it to react, and its own surface layer repairs itself when scratched. It costs more and it is harder to work with, which is precisely why most fashion jewellery skips it.
How we talk about it
We sell artificial jewellery and we say so plainly. Nothing here is solid gold. What we can tell you is what it is made of, how to look after it, and what will shorten its life - and we would rather explain that on the website than hope nobody asks.
